
It is important that we are given accurate details of any dietary requirement so that we are able to make guests feel welcome. The more notice we have, the better we are able to accommodate special dietary requests. Examples of specific dietary requirements are as follows:
There are three main categories:
Strict Muslims do not eat pork, and will not drink alcohol. They will not eat or drink in daylight hours during Ramadan, which is a traditional fasting period. (Please note the timing changes from year to year.) Foods that are halal (allowed) include: milk, honey, fish, plants (non-intoxicating), fresh or naturally frozen vegetables, fresh or dried fruits, legumes and many nuts (peanuts, cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, etc.), and grains such as wheat, rye, barley, rice, oats, etc. Cows, sheep, goats, deer, chickens, ducks, game birds, and such meats are halal as long as they are zabihah (slaughtered according to Islamic rites). We are able to buy halal meat but require 48 hours notice.
Strict Hindus do not eat beef or veal.
Strict vegetarians do not eat meat or fish. They will usually eat eggs, cheese and drink milk.
Strict vegans do not eat animal products including milk, butter or cheese.
Cereal or grain products cannot be eaten by those on a gluten-free diet. Please inform us so that we can provide alternative menus. Our bento boxes may be a suitable alternative for the working lunch.
Allergies are severe immune responses to eating a specific food – possibly life threatening. Most common foods allergies – nuts, peanuts, shellfish, eggs, milk, soya, gluten cereals (wheat, barley, rye, oats etc.), milk (lactose), celery, citrus. Please notify the Hospitality Manager if any diners have any food allergies.
Intolerances/sensitivities are mild reactions to eating a food – rarely a life threat. Please notify the Hospitality Manager if any diners have any food intolerances.
No milk products are allowed.
